Following on from our previous post, we note this quote:
Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said: “Every officer will be given a fresh briefing on their personal security.
“It is about common-sense precautions such as not linking in social media and your personal life that you are a police officer.
“If, for example, when off duty an officer is involved in a local Guides or Scouts group or a local football team, then do not make it obvious that you are a police officer.”
HOWEVER, how many forces plaster their own officers all over their own social media when it suits? It makes no sense. ?
Are you still obliged to intervene in matters off duty – or is that making it obvious that you’re a Police Officer? ?
Most people on your friends list know what you do for a living.
Most people will see you in uniform in your local area. (They MIGHT be able to twig from that…)
Some forces have no problem with it and some forces haul you over the coals for it.
If you like this page and comment on our posts are you a terrorist target?
We’d argue no. Certainly no more than walking down the street on your own in a bright yellow high-vis jacket…
We welcome a balanced and reasonable discussion below and we’d genuinely love someone senior/national/with a bit of clout to get in touch because we’re all for looking after the boys and girls on the #ThinBlueLine and we’re very keen not to get any of you in any grief.
